PREFACE
Above is me, old Beem, when I was about 19 years old. I was on an island called Fohr, in the city of Vyk,
just north of the German mainland in the North Sea. I was there on a work-study program sponsored by Ball State University. I
don't remember who the woman was, or why we posed together, but the summer of 1971 was one long summer I'll
never forget. Please enjoy yourself as you move around in my website; hopefully, you'll be entertained.
So watch your step, please, and if you find the experience pleasant, as they say in Consumer Land,
please tell a friend; if you find it wanting, please tell me, at rickybeemer@yahoo.com.
Peace be with you, and may God bless you many times over.
Your servant,
Richard
The cornball above is my youngest son, Jacob. I know in my soul that someday he will do something interesting with
his life, and that whatever it is will have an effect on others, so I hope it's something good. I can see him as a performer
of some kind: acting, music, comedy, maybe all of the above. Perhaps he will help others, the poor, the lonely, the sick.
Perhaps. Bless him, God, and help him to remember that whatever he does and accomplishes, he will remember
to thank You.

WELCOME,
One And All!
Greetings and welcome to Fortitude! "Fortitude"
is the name of our three acres here in Huntington County, Indiana. I, Big Dad (Richard) Beemer, will provide
a short description of the other Pages you are welcome to visit at your leisure.
First, there's this Page, with me and Mary Ellen, my wife of 22
years; children Heather, Ethan, Abel, Xenia, Nicholas and Jacob. We love them all.
Then there's the Prayers of the Faithful Page, where we petition God.
The Favorite Links Page will simply include sites that I find either
interesting or useful, or even avoidable. Its beginning is humble.
The Beemer Family Page will take some work, but we'll get there.
The Random Spirits Page is for the poet within, a tiny little voice
that wishes to be released, so if you find my poetry lacking, fine. There's nothing there now, because what was there was
depressing. I took it away.
Beemsuchstuff is a personal Page for me, with "Rick's Picks" and "Revelations";
also, there's a response to a local Herald-Press columnist, who has his head up his computer port.
The Loud And Clear Page is a page that includes a few music-review
columns that I used to write for Catholic Parent magazine, a national publication published by Our Sunday Visitor, where I
was employed for exactly 31 years. Two more years and I could have been crucified. I was the managing editor
of periodicals. Catholic Parent, unfortunately, folded in May 2006. In the column, I reviewed the lyrics to popular
music so parents could get an idea what their kids might be listening to. The column was popular with parents, and
less so with their children. A website, www.bigdadsreviews.com, to accomplish the same thing, should be up soon.
The God's Good Earth Tool Rest Page is a patented invention of mine.
I let it lapse because I could no longer afford the fees; it was, however, a valuable experience.
The Shoe-Sucker Seven Page is a trail run I direct that's 22
years old and very rugged (the trail, that is), but loved by a very lucky 100 or so participants who like the fact
that there's only 100 or so participants.
The last Page is the Essays In The Key of Beem Page. There you will
find essays I've written for a local literary society.
Peace to all of you, my millions of website visitors and may
you be prosperous and prayerfully thankful.
God bless,
"Big Dad" Beem the Patriarch, Apple-Eater, Grand Puba,
Head Dude, Smart Feller, Fart Smeller, Benefactor of Family Love, Dealer of Mystical Deals and Producer of Products Not
Yet Available.
This site is currently under construction. Slacker employees, inept engineers and inferior equipment
are working together to ensure that this site takes forever to get built, so bear with me as I crack the whip on
those imbeciles.

Old man, take a look at yourself.... At age 59, there is much to ponder still,
such as, is belly-button lint trying to get in or out? And why is the dove the symbol for peace? Why not the pillow? After
all, it has more feathers, and it doesn't have that dangerous beak. For more interesting stuff, go to the Beemsuchstuff page
for the ultimate in mediocrity. Peace! Beem.
